Quality Over Quantity

Posted 15th November 2017
Today I wanted to talk about one of the lessons I have learned in life: quality beats quantity. This applies to lots of different things in life but lets talk about fashion first.

I used to buy almost all of my clothes on sale thinking how amazing it was that I was able to get so many things for so little money, but recently I have noticed that all those bargains ended up in charity bags. After a few washes and couple of wears those items just didn’t look right, yet in comparison, the more expensive items in my wardrobe have lasted me for years. Take this red jumper for example, M&S makes these beautifully soft cashmere sweaters every year and every year I think to myself:  “£75 is just too much money for one jumper” then I walk away to buy something that is half the price but a year later it ends up in the charity shop and I am back to square one. This is when a famous Russian saying came to mind ‘a stingy person pays twice’ and I finally splurged on this beautiful cashmere sweater that I always wanted. Don’t get me wrong I still love a sale but from now on I will be much more mindful of what I buy.  You can also apply this lesson to other aspects of your life…quality friendship with one person is much better than a superficial relationship with 20 people. I guess recognizing all of this is a sign of growing up and getting older and if that means I will have true friends and clothes that lasts and makes me feel amazing then I am ok with that:)

P.S. Don’t forget that if you spend more then £35 in M&S you can get their beauty advent calendar for £35…..with Christmas just around the corner what a great gift idea. Mine is still in the post but it looks like it is full of great products.
