Yachtsport Resort, Brissago

Posted 5th June 2018

A week ago my hubby and I came back from our first visit to Switzerland. We had an amazing time and would love to go back there and explore all different arias of this beautiful country but today I wanted to tell you about the wonderful hotel we stayed it.

I searched high and low for a hotel that was right on the Lake Maggiore in Ascona area and after reading an amazing review of Yachtsport Resort Boutique hotel I decided to book it.  Shortly after making the booking I have received a very warm email from Simone who owns the hotel together with her husband and I immediately felt like I made a right choice.

The hotel is beautifully designed with nautical details throughout and you can see the attention to details. Our room was very luxurious and cosy but of course, the balcony with the stunning views stole the show, I don’t think I could ever get bored of waking up to the view of the lakes and mountains. If you are a whiskey conissiuer then this hotel had a little treat in store. On the top floor was the Biblioteque with a vast collection of whiskey from all over the world – some of it was sixty years old! The hotel is a water sports centre at it’s core so it mostly caters for paddle boarding, sailing, windsurfing and can even offer you a speedboat to hire or lessons if you wish to learn any of the above. If water sports aren’t your cup of tea then and you prefer to take it easy, relax and sunbathe, there was a surprise for you, a teeny tiny private beach that overlooks the lake, Italy and the snow-capped Alps.

To get around and explore the surrounding areas and find things to do is always a challenge when you go away somewhere new and English is not always spoken. Fortunately for us, the owners of the hotel went far beyond helpful and gave us bus tickets that lasted all week, along with maps that highlighted places of interest. Simone and her husband, Dr Wolf, were just the perfect hoteliers. Dr Wolf even picked us up with his own speedboat after we got stranded on a tiny island. Unbelievably helpful to the very end.

I can list more wonderful things about this place (spectacular food for example) but I guess you get the idea. We had an amazing stay and would recommend the hotel to everyone. If you ever visiting that corner of the world I suggest you just come and see for yourself just how lovely this hotel and people who work there are.

P.S. I recommend you to visit just before summer season starts (mid to end of may). For the first 3 days, we were the only people staying there and it truly felt like we were staying with friends. Very special!
